Blues and Booze 2009

23 May, 2009 by whitehorseinnclun

Blues and booze 2009 started last night at the White Horse Inn, Clun.  Rik Martin his wife Helen, brother Wayne and  Geoff Ockingham on bass. A great set thoroughly enjoyed by all that came, problem being the comments after were “how are you going to follow that, over the next three days”. Well we’ll see what we can do! Gigs are available on You tube.  Link to you tube http://www.youtube.com/user/whitehorseinnclun I think I got a bit carried away by the good times and felt a little fuzzy this morning.  See more about the White Horse Inn, Clun’s Booze and Blues Festival at  http://tinyurl.com/om9l84

Well the whole of Blues and Blues was spectacular except Michael Berk who failed to turn up. Still no explanation videos of most of the gigs will be going on Youtube ASAP.

Highlights for me espcially were the Rik Martin Band, the  Convulsions  and Kent DuChaine. Wow!!!

Watch this space and the website for more info for next years.

Sky / Setanta Sports etc

21 May, 2009 by whitehorseinnclun

Firstly I must thank the idiot that stole my Sky card and remote control last Saturday. Tried today to get a new card. It transpires that last December I was mis-sold Setanta, this means that to continue I have to renew not with Setanta, but with Sky. The cost for this will be £3,000 a year or £57.00 a week. So well done idiot. The cost of this is so prohibitive that I will never recover it. So unfortunately I have to cancel my Setanta subscription for the pub, even more annoying because West Ham are playing live this weekend, and I’m obviously going to miss it.

Why do we let SKY have this monopoly of our sport. To subscribe to SKY would cost £6,000 a year.

I urge all to go to http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/SportForAllOnTV/ and attempt to get the government to ban this scandalous monopoly at least with international matches.

Or better still premiership matches, at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/livefootballontv/ although this will reduce the money in the game. Would that be a bad thing?

Last night we welcomed back the Clun Bowling Club, who won their game against Chirbury. We wish them well with the rest of the season.
